Personality
Duibhín is a Wildwood Elezen of about medium height, standing around 6'8". He has long black hair that he tends to wear down his back, held back in a series of elegant braids or coils. He's fair-skinned with bright green eyes and a seeming inability to tan. The man takes self-care to an extent that borders on all-out pampering, and it shows in his well-manicured nails and elegant, tailored clothing. He favors dramatic colors and cuts to cultivate a striking figure.
Duibhín is one of those sorts of people who is overall quite intelligent, but sometimes does foolish things due to letting passion drive his actions before he can properly analyze the situation. Restraint is something that he still struggles with from time to time, but his charisma has gotten out of more than his fair share of scrapes. Often he keeps his guard at least partially down, enabling him to keep an open and (at least somewhat) honest communication with whomever he's talking to. He is perfectly capable of appearing aloof and neutral but he tends to drop his guard easily when he feels comfortable.
When relaxed, Duibhín has a warm, vibrant personality. He's generous and loving to a fault to those that he cares for (be they friend, family or lover), and he enjoys gently teasing his companions to no end when he feels he can get away with it. It would be nice if he learned to take a little more of what he dishes out but at least he's working on it. Even with this, Duibhín is someone who genuinely values the company and input of others-- everything is more bearable with friends, after all.
For all his strengths, vanities, and pride (of which he possesses in spades) he hates being alone or feeling ignored. He also has a penchant for trouble that people would find... admirable. Duibhín can certainly play the damsel in the phrase "damsel in distress" to perfection, though he abhors being referred to as such.
On the other end, he considers himself an absolutely hopeless romantic. Whatever form his affection takes, it blazes quickly and vibrantly. When someone worms their way into his circle he will expend copious amounts of energy into ensuring their welfare and happiness. With those he trusts he is more willing to drop the both dramatics and the professional façade, enabling them to see the heart firmly stamped onto his sleeve.
He’s been spoiled and pampered from birth and sometimes comes across as a strutting, vain peacock who knows how to spin pretty words-- this is not an inaccurate description, honestly. Duibhín works hard though to prove himself and see things from the perspective of the other side in a conversation (and not just a default grey stance). He won't hesitate to be helpful when required, and has even been known to set aside personal grudges if it works towards a greater goal.
History.
Originally of Sharlayan descent, Duibhín lost his parents just before entering his teenage years, and was taken in by his parents dearest friends, a lalafell couple named Wilaran Lalaran and Aliksonda Garonda. It was a culture shock; going from being an only child to
having a plethora of siblings including the natural born lalafell Dhlaran, as well as Duskwight twins and a miqo'te boy. His family were incredibly well-off merchants and none of their children wanted for anything that they needed-- and were given plenty of instruction on how to become merchants themselves one day, if that was a path that they so wished to take, that is.
Each of his siblings excelled in their own activities, but Duibhín's specialties tended mostly towards people themselves and mediation, though he could be quite the fine salesman when necessary. He was a witty, quick-tongued lad who knew when to flirt a little to seal a deal and when to just listen quietly and offer a sympathetic ear. Often when in Ul'dah, he attends to at least some of his parents' duties for them; especially when it comes to meeting with clients.
While trained in combat, Duibhín never particularly cared for it and tended to prefer avoiding it completely when necessary. But even if he prefers not to get his hands dirty, he's dedicated a great deal of his free time to the study of magic in several forms, and is a talented mage in his own right. His preferences do still trend to theoretical magic, or finding new uses for application, and he keeps a vast library to this day of everything from theoretical magic and flora and fauna to romance novels.
